End-of-life conversations are among the most meaningful—and often most challenging—discussions long-term care professionals have with residents and families. Too often, these conversations occur only after a significant decline or medical crisis, leaving families unprepared, expectations unmet, and care teams struggling to align treatment decisions with resident wishes.
This webinar explores how proactive, compassionate communication can improve the resident and family experience while reducing misunderstandings that frequently lead to complaints and professional liability concerns. Participants will learn when to initiate end-of-life discussions, how to guide conversations with empathy and clarity, and strategies for ensuring that resident goals remain at the center of care planning as conditions change.
Attendees will also review best practices for documenting these conversations, managing expectations throughout disease progression, and fostering a shared understanding among residents, families, and the interdisciplinary care team.
